More About This Experience

On a recent trip to south Yogyakarta, we chanced upon a fishing village and found ourselves quite fascinated with how local fishing communities in Java still fish using traditional methods. What delighted us equally was how friendly and warm the local fishermen were - they offered to take us out on their boats and also shared their catch of the day which were prepared for us in what can only be described as an extravagant seafood meal! Of note were the fresh lobsters for which we still find ourselves going back for every now and then. Naturally we couldn't resist exploring the possibility of creating a tour for our guests. So after many voyages out to sea, we finally have a tour we think our guests might find enjoyable. Sure, the trip will be adventurous as a fishing tour, but there's also a unique opportunity to spend a day understanding how your host, Mr Tino and his community live their lives, their deep respect for the sea and their strong reverence in the local legend of the Queen of the South Sea. The first of its kind, this fishing trip starts in one of the fishing communities in the south coast of Jogja. The tour is designed to give you a peek into "life in the day of a fisherman', thus you will join your host Mr Tino and his crew and go out fishing like they do on a daily basis. Itinerary 0500: Pick-up from hotel (private transfer) 0600: Arrival at beach 0630: Ensure all fishing equipment is set and ready 0700: Depart to the sea 1100: Back to shore 1200: Lunch prepared in a beachside warung (local restaurant) 1300: Free and easy 1500: Transfer back to hotel in Jogja 1600: Arrival at hotel

Fishing like never before! I frequently use a rod and reel to fish in my hometown so was quite interested to experience fishing with local fishermen in Indonesia. I'll admit, the traditional techniues weren't all that new to me, but the overall experience of meeting the local fishermen, learning about their simple lives, going on an excursion with them out to the sea (also my first time fishing in open waters) was the coolest experience in my trip so far! Just being able to have the most immersive day out with real local people, completely cut off not just from us tourists but also urban life was something to cherish about this trip. I loved that me and my friends, total of 4 guys, could have such a experience with people and places that would never have crossed our path were it not for backstreet academy's recommendation. We met a local family, went out roughly a mile out into the waters, hooked our nets, released them and got a healthy number of lobsters from a 30 odd meter of line. This was then prepared in a local beachside restaurant to what was a stunning lunch! Especially after all the hardwork that was put in. Totally recommend going through the trouble of an early morning and fishing with Tino and his friends. The whole experience lasted 7 hours.

I was recomended to try backstreet by a friend who hd tried their service in Vietnam and decided to give it a go. Their fisihing activity in the sea looked interesting and I decided yo give it a go! No regrets at all! The tour basically gives you inside access to a local fisherman's life. Not just the fisihing bit, which was spectacular, but also a glimpse into his and his family's life. Satono was a kind gentlemen, who shower us a fabulous time on his boat. We prepared the bait, released the line, awam around while we waited and an hour kater pulled out lobsters! Lots of them! Truly a one of a kind experience. The guide Maria was great and fun having around for the day. Highly highly recommend! Oh and the fresh seadond platter that THE host prepares from your catch is delicious!! Try it, you wont regret. Were already sign ung up for a fee other activities on backstreet
