On a recent trip to south Yogyakarta, we chanced upon a fishing village and found ourselves quite fascinated with how local fishing communities in Java still fish using traditional methods. What delighted us equally was how friendly and warm the local fishermen were - they offered to take us out on their boats and also shared their catch of the day which were prepared for us in what can only be described as an extravagant seafood meal! Of note were the fresh lobsters for which we still find ourselves going back for every now and then.
Naturally we couldn't resist exploring the possibility of creating a tour for our guests. So after many voyages out to sea, we finally have a tour we think our guests might find enjoyable. Sure, the trip will be adventurous as a fishing tour, but there's also a unique opportunity to spend a day understanding how your host, Mr Tino and his community live their lives, their deep respect for the sea and their strong reverence in the local legend of the Queen of the South Sea.
The first of its kind, this fishing trip starts in one of the fishing communities in the south coast of Jogja. The tour is designed to give you a peek into "life in the day of a fisherman', thus you will join your host Mr Tino and his crew and go out fishing like they do on a daily basis.
