More About This Experience
Apsara dance is one of the highest art forms in Cambodia is classified by UNESCO as one of the great intangible cultural assets of the world. The art was almost wiped out during the Khmer Rouge regime as the leaders sought to destroy all forms of art and culture, with the goal of 'purifying' the population and returning them to the purist state as subsistence farmers. Luckily a small band of dancers defied death and managed to survive the regime, and they rekindled the art soon after the collapse of the regime.
Painstakingly preserved through the ages and culturally celebrated on Angkor temples, this is one experience anyone interested in dance should participate in. Not only will you gain new found appreciation for this high form of art, but you will also be able to enjoy the company of a local master in a beautiful home-studio setting.
