It may look scary, but I never regret going for this challenge! The hosts are very helpful and I get to learn it step by step for cooking the inserts. Its pretty easy and fun! Surprisingly the inserts taste really good. So don't worry, it won't hurt. I get to know of the guide name Pisal who speaks pretty good english and he is very friendly. He made us feel so welcome and I learned alot from him about Cambodia. Happy to have him as our guide.
My boyfriend and i have just returned from doing the insect cooking class in Phnom Penh and it was great fun. Not only do you have the course itself, getting to cook and eat the insects, we were taken to a family who specialise in the cooking by a very friendly and informative guide who told us a lot about cambodian culture, lifestyle and history on the way. We were picked up from our hotel and given lots of information about the city and country by our guide before arriving at our destination. Although the insects themselves were not all tasty (!) the cooking was good fun and something most people will never experience. I definitely recommend this activity and our guide (though i forget his name) and commend the professionalism and ease of booking everything online. Do this if you're culinary adventurous!!!
Had a really great time with this course. Our guide, forgot what her name was (wasn't easy to pronounce either :P) was really friendly and was very helpful in translating what we were curious to know about. Now that I know how to cook 'em critters, i'm gonna have to figure out how to catch them back here in Singapore! Cheers, Backstreet Academy! Will definitely recommend and go back for more courses.
