More About This Experience

While you are staying here in Luang Prabang's world heritage town, have a walk to the #Backstreets and we will take you to taste the old flavour of the town! These extremely interesting food were very popular and eaten many years ago when the Lao people lived in the countryside, where they were one with the jungle, hunting and foraging for food. They ate raw food and everything around them, every part of the animal should not be wasted and almost anything can be food. They had a poem: 'You wouldn't be a man if you can't eat raw food'! Nowadays these foods, while losing its place in the regular diet, have become a popular for occasions such as festivals, gatherings and even date nights as it is a very memorable time for everyone. This tour will take you right through some of the hidden local Luang Prabang restaurants that serve up some of the most bizarre food. Even if you've been here, even if you're a self-professed SouthEast Asian foodie, you'll find something new and memorable here to add to your travel tales. You will get to enjoy the full spread of Luang Prabang's fear factor cuisine in this tour! Don't worry if you can't take a certain dish, this tour can be fully customized so you can simply let your facilitator know and you can have some boring chicken breast in lieu of it ;) Menu: 1. Raw goat's blood 2. Grilled goat 3. Goat colon (cooked in its own dung, with a bitter tinge) 4. Goat testicle soup/steamed 6. Foetal Duck egg 7. Chicken feet Optional Add-ons: Fried frog (+$6 per booking) *This is a food tour, not a cooking course so you will only be eating the chosen items and not cooking them. Note: - Bring your own drinking water - Beverage or Beer is not included

What a great experience in Luang Prabang Firstly our tour guide Chue was extremely professional and polite. He ate with us and educated us on the hard work that goes behind the scenes to prepare these outrages meals. We ate goats blood, goat testicles, goat , goat colon cooked in its own dung, chicken intestines and balut. The meals were presented beautifully. I personally struggled with the meals however it was a great night with a great host. Thank you Chua

perfect, wonderful. our guide Oun was the best guide ever. he is not only the guide to order the food, he will answer any question you have abouy laos life. I did three workshp and this one was the best thanks to him. for the food, we had dog, goat, testicules soup, blood, guts soup, three kinds of bbq meat (guts, buffalo, chicken stomach) and at the end no more feoetus egg so the guide spent 45min to find them for us. it was perfect and fun. but bring your drinks if you want to, or you have to buy them. thank you backstreet academy thank you very much Oun

I decided on a whim to do a flute making workshop and a street food tour, and am so glad i did. The booking process was easy, and i had responses to all my questions within a hour or so. We were picked up on time, had the most amazingly friendly translator, and the experiences themselves were top quality. These guys support local craftsmen and small businesses, so your money is going to good places. And at no point did i feel like i was on a tourist excursion, i was made to feel at home and comfortable and i feel i got to see a side of Luang Prabang that would have been difficult to navigate on my own. THANK YOU SO MUCH BACKSTREET, i wish you guys every success!!!!!!!

FOR SOMEONE WHO HAS EATEN CROCODILES, FISH EYEBALLS, AND FERMENTED BIRDS, I THOUGHT THIS WOULD BE NO KICK. I was so wrong. BUT IT WAS ABSOLUTE FUN! AND I HAVE SO MANY MORE THINGS ADDED TO MY LIST OF CRAZY FOODS! The raw geese blood was really blood curdling (forgive the pun). The chicken feet apparently most Asians eat it but was kinda difficult for me. The baby duck egg I always wanted to try and it really doesn;t disappoint. Actually heck, nothing disappointed. Everything is pretty damn exotic and are totally things I'd tell my grandchildren when I'm old. Had a ton of fun! Thanks Backstreet!

Good stuff. All the best stuff in Laos. You will not get it anywhere else or on your own. Must try. Our photos turned out really epic and our Backstreet Facilitator was a bag of laughs. Totally professional but so friendly. Epic experience.
