More About This Experience

The ethnic hill tribes in Laos used to be hunter-gatherers and the crossbow is an integral weapon in their culture as the main tool used for hunting. Crafted from the strongest bamboo and wood, these crossbows are capable of shooting further than your eyes can see in the jungle with your accuracy the only impediment to scoring a hit. Armed with self-crafted bamboo arrows, the hunters able to shoot with remarkable accuracy and feed their tribes. Now you can join our veteran crossbow-maker in crafting your own personal crossbow! Made from 1 single block of wood and 1 piece of smoked bamboo then strung together by thick twine, your crossbow can be disassembled for easy transportation back home. Make sure you pay attention to how it is assembled though so you can do it on your own back home! Besides making your crossbow, spend a nice afternoon challenging Chaisong to an archery duel and see if you can win! Otherwise, a bag of fruits as tribute to the master would be a nice gift ;) Please kindly note: Bring your own bottled water

My son and I had a great time. It was remarkable to see what they could make out of all natural materials and limited tools. A great way to see how the family lives and to find out more about them. The crossbow works great and my son has already made a target to start practicing with!

I really enjoyed learning how to do something traditional like make a crossbow. Chai Song is a very patient man and has a lot of skill at what he does. It would have been nice to be allowed to do more of the actual crafting. They often did things on their own and just had me watch, but it would have been better to be involved in every step. Both Chai Song and I shot the bullseye after making the crossbow, so I guess we did a good job making it.

Totally hands on for my 9 yr old and me. Learn carving and assembly techniques by watching and doing. Made 2 awesome crossbows. Had to disassemble them to mail home but we are so thrilled with the whole experience.
