More About This Experience
Hundred years ago, this amazing handicraft has been created and passed down from one generation to another. Its usage was traditionally as a money to offer to spirits and making cloth, but nowadays this art has been transformed into modern products such as painting paper, books, hand-bags and other decorations.
Saa is also known as mulberry trees. People harvest the bark of this trees and soaked and boiled to extract the strips of the inner bark. Then hammer and smash them into smaller pieces. After that put into the frame and dry it out. Finally the completed pieces are ready to make items.
In this course, you will get to see the bark of Saa tree, to beat the bark of mulberry trees with a stone mortar and a wooden hammer. Design your own piece of Saa paper by putting leaves on the frame to create patterns for your paper sheet and dry it out on the sun. While we're waiting for your paper sheet to dry out, we will sit down with your host and she will teach us how to make a product that you can take home as a souvenir. This product is included within the price but it's only for the small products that you see on the photos gallery above. There will be extra charged for the medium and big size if you want to make it.
Note:
- Bring your own drinking water
- The price includes the course and a small item + your own Saa paper that you dry.
