More About This Experience

In this course, you will sit down to a feast of authentic Laos cuisine and culture, explore the authenticity of Lao cuisine. You will head to a local's house and learn to cook your own vegetarian food. There are many cooking classes in Luang Prabang, but this is a special adventure to local cooking kitchen where you will get to see the host family in the cozy atmosphere and experience the original cooking way of Lao people with wood fire and ceramic mortar. This cooking class is designed especially for travellers who are looking for local food that can't be found in big popular restaurants in tourist area in Luang Prabang. You will be able to learn your choices of 2 Lao dishes and 3 dipping sauces of your choice, making a total of 5 dishes in one class. Simply let the host knows your preferences of dishes and sauces when you book, so that the host can prepare them accordingly. Lao dishes (Choose 2) 1.) Bamboo shoots soup Cooked with fresh bamboo shoots, young pumpkin, green squash, tomatoes, Yanang and Lao basil. 2.) Vegetable A mix of many kinds of vegetable with sesame and peanut 3.) Mushroom soup Fresh mushroom cooked with tomato and garlic 4.) Taro soup A hill tribe dish made with fresh taro and vegetable. Just the way Lao people love it. 5.) Fried Tofu Lao dipping sauces (Choose 3) 1.) Banana flower 2.) Rattan The rattan dip is popular because of its rich taste. You can't find this dip at any restaurant in Luang Prabang but at a local house. 3.) Eggplant Eggplant dip is one of the most common and usually available everywhere in Laos, it never fails to delight. 4.) Tomato A refreshing orange paste, the tomato dip is among foreigner's favorite because of its reduced spiciness and the zesty taste of tomatoes. 5.) Green Papaya salad Green papaya salad is a kind of sauce that Laotians love to eat during festivals, New Year celebration and other events in Laos. It's a supper spicy if you buy it at the market. 6.) Hog plum The hog plum dip is a special dip with bitter taste. You can find this dip anywhere in Luang Prabang. People believe that bitterness helps to protect our stomach.
