As travelers ourselves, more often than not curiosity always gets the better of us and we find ourselves wandering aimlessly into the countryside hoping to stumble upon and get glimpses of how most Laotians while away their time. And sure enough, over several trips to the countryside of Luang Prabang we've come across a variety of activities that truly represent how the average Laotian go about their daily lives, and we've taken it upon ourselves to design a tour that showcases exactly this in the most authentic and immersive manner possible.
Spend 30 minutes driving with us and you will have the chance to soak into countryside atmosphere where you will see many non-touristy attractions and the charming beauty of Laos's true life and people. More than that, you will participate in the activities from rice husking with a traditional mortar to working in the farm and hunting crabs in the streams like the local, even how to set up a mouse trap. The below itinerary can be customized to meet your interest in certain activities.
9:00 AM - 9:30 AM: Pickup from hotel and transfer to Kok Ngiew village
9:30 AM - 10:20 AM: Traditional rice husking activity
10:30 AM -11:00 AM: Tour the village to see local life and then take tuktuk to the host's rice farm
11:20 AM - 12:00 PM: Hunting crabs and collect available vegetable at the farm for lunch
12:00 PM - 1:00 PM: Lunch prepared at the host's rice farm/plantation
1:00 PM - 2:00 PM: Visit and pick some pineapple at the pineapple's farm and see how the host plants pineapple (Pineapple are available during mid of May to mid September)
2:30 PM - Host demonstrate how rice is planted and how they traps mice at the farm
3:00 PM: Transfer back to hotel in Luang Prabang
What to bring:

- Trekking shoes if it's the rainy season (Rainy season - May to October)

- Prepare a long clothes and trekking shoes when you visit the pineapple farm
