Had an excellent half day of weaving. The guide who picked me up from the hotel was really chatty with excellent English who could answer any question. Makes you very appreciative of her skill, to see the weaver at work and be prepared to work! Definitely worth paying the $5 extra for the bigger scarf. Very good value for half a day.
What a wonderful idea - this store gets local artisans to teach their craft to travelers. Win-win! My husband and I went in for a weaving class and had a blast at the looms. We made place mats from silk yarn - thats right, from the thread! With patterns, colors - the whole deal. Followed this up with a meal at the cafe, overlooking the Mekong!
The demonstrations site is great and a delightful way to while away a day learning new skills and chatting with the staff in this beautiful compound. My partner had wanted to do basket weaving in Sydney but kept missing out on courses so we loved being able to have this opportuntiy to learn this craft and experience whilst sitting by the side of the Mekong. It was so good I went back the next day and did the natural dye making course. Another highlight of my trip
