We learned some nice techniques during the workshop. My boyfriend didn't have any painting experience but we both made something we are happy with with pan's help and we are both inspired to do more painting. We sat outside in the shade and had nice chats with Pan and the translator. We felt very comfortable.

Had a great time trying oil painting. My girlfriend knows how to paint, but never did on oil before, and the teacher let her choose her own theme to paint, helped with color mixing and allowed longer time than usual so she could finish her painting. In my case, one of my worst skills is drawing and painting in general, and despite of that, managed to get something half decent copying a smaller painting with single colors and A LOT of help from the teacher and his wife. It was great to see the painting school and painting in a simple local's studio. Our facilitator was really helpful with translation, polite and attentive, and later when I had a problem with my scooter he helped a lot, way beyond what could be expected as the experience itself was already finished and he was about to leave. 10 points!

Great activity for my family, kept the kids occupied and learning something even during travel! Hosts and facilitator were very friendly too, helping out with everything and telling us many things about their lives, about Luang Prabang, about Laos and their other guests.

NEVER THOUGHT I COULD DO THIS!! Looking at the tons of oil paintings in the night market made me want to buy everything home! Luckily i stumbled onto this site and found Song! He taught me all the basic techniques Lao artists use to create these paintings, and they're actually quite doable! Had much fun creating my own version of the elephants with Song's help. Looking very much forward to going home and painting all my beautiful memories of Luang Prabang on oil canvases. Perfect activity to while away an afternoon after all the waterfalls, elephant rides and parties >.<
