More About This Experience

Prayer wheels are central to Tibetan Buddhism. These prayer wheels have prayers/chants written on them that devotees believe is chanted with every rotation. Prayer wheels generally line the outskirts of religious sites where pilgrims and devotees walk around the site rotating these wheels as they make their rounds. There is however a portable version of the prayer wheel as well, which one can rotate in one's hand with relative ease. And it is this portable prayer wheel that you will be making for this course. Based on the size of the prayer wheel that you want to make you will first have to mark the metal sheet which will then have to be cut with a pair of heavy duty scissors. Once you have the sheet ready it has be moulded into a circular shape. With the base of the prayer wheel ready, next up is getting the pre-shaped text (the prayers) into shape to fit on the metal base. The next step involves using high pressure flames to mould the metal and put the pieces in place (only the host will handle the high pressure flames for safety reasons). The last step for this course is preparing the handle on which the prayer wheel will be mounted. Once this is done then all you have to do is fix the prayer wheel to the handle and there you have it, your own portable prayer wheel! ;) Please note that if you have selected an add on for pick up then we use local taxis.
