Truch chi, which literally translates to bamboo paper involves a unique process of making paper out of bamboo. The brain child behind the bamboo paper, artist Phan Hai Bang, took a total of ten years of trial and error before striking on the perfect process to create the high quality paper. It was a result of many years of travels around South East Asia studying the process of making paper as a result of which he realized that previous efforts of creating paper from straw, bananas and sugar cane did not yield a quality as good as bamboo did. In this workshop, guests will be taken through the process of preparing the end product - some verbally (since part of the process involves an overnight process) and some with a hands on demonstration. Guests will then be able to use a ready made paper to create a product of your own. The patterns and intricacies one can achieve on the paper is beautiful and the products you can make include anything from a paper wallet to a lamp shade.
