More About This Experience

As is with most countries that have a long history of multicultural influences, the Philippines too has her cuisine coalesce from a mixture of Spanish, Indian, Chinese and most recently from American food culture into the indigenous cuisine. While the Filipinos love their fast food joints, anything ranging from the Mcdonalds to the homegrown Jollibee, you will find an equal number of carinderia run by locals that serve up delicious home cooked local cuisine. And it's in these carinderia that you will find the most authentic local dishes: these are eateries run by families and you can get a hearty meal for super cheap. If there's anything that beats the Filipino love for burgers and fast foods, it's a well cooked Adbobo from one of the carinderia's! For this cooking class, we'll take you deep into an urban neighborhood in Cebu City. There is a mom who spent most of her life cooking for her kids and took a passion for it that she made cooking her side business. So not only will this experience be an insight into Filipino cuisine but you also get to witness how most Filipinos live away from swanky business centres and high rise condominiums. The Menu will include: 1. Soup: Coconut-based Vegetable Soup 2. Appetizer: Pork Lumpia (Spring rolls) 3. Main Dish: Rice and Chicken Adobo 4. Dessert: Buco Pandan (Coconut & Pandan Jello) Note: Please do not expect the conditions you would in a professional run cooking school. We've taken all measures necessary to ensure that the ingredients that will be used are 100% hygienic. If there are any specific requests or queries then do let us know beforehand.
