More About This Experience

We will start the tour from Battambang city to Sampov Mountain to catch the time of the day when the sun disappears and night begins. The views are fabulous from the top of Sampov Mountain. Enjoy the cool air on the mountain in the late evening and seeing the long line of bat flying from the caves. Listen to our experienced local student tour guides telling the history of Khmer Rouge Killing Caves and the Sampov Mountain story. Hiking: When we arrive Sampov Mountain, we will walk up to the top of the mountain. While you are walking, you will see the spectacular views of the villages and rice paddies. Visiting the temple wall: On the temple walls you will see beautiful painting that hold a lot of cultural and religious significance for Cambodians. Here your local guide will explain to you what these walls depict in terms of the different religions in Cambodia, in particular about Buddhism which most Cambodians today practice. Killing Caves: It gets a bit dark as we arrive at the cave in the evening. There will be a guide here who is also the caretaker and is knowledgeable about the caves ? in terms of its history and how it was used by the Khmer Rouge so this is a good point to listen to him and learn about the Killing caves. In the caves you will see the clothes that have remained even though their skins and bones have almost disappeared. Catching the sunset: The Sampov Mountain provides you fresh air while you look down at all the greenery. If you feel stressed or tired, you just sit there it will help you to refresh and release your tension. While you enjoy the sunset and fresh air, your tour guides will tell you about the story of Sampov and others nearby mountains. Monkey fun: When you come up to the top of Sampov mountain, there are many monkeys are running around and jumping up and down on the trees and looking at us to ask for some fruits to eat. It is awesome that those monkeys are not even afraid of us, they are running around us and sometimes making us ridiculous face at, too. Bat Caves: When finished with visiting the top, on our way down we will be just in time to catch the bats flying in a long extended line out of their caves. This is an excellent photo opportunity and the sounds you hear are also mesmerizing!
