More About This Experience
We don't promise to make you a sitar maestro through this course but you will get a first hand experience from a maestro about the basics of holding a sitar, an introductory music lesson and if you're quick in picking up the lesson then maybe even a mini jam session with Suresh himself. ;)
Let us warn you that Suresh is quite the stern teacher when the class is on but during the breaks there isn't a jollier person in the room. :) That said, the class will begin with sitting with the sitar in the correct posture and we'll be the first to admit that it's not exactly comfortable if you're not accustomed to it. Fret not, Suresh has his ways of posturing your body in a way which will accommodate the sitar plus be comfortable for you. Once you've settled down with the sitar, Suresh will attach the sitar pick on to your forefinger and get the lesson started. As is with all music lessons, depending on how quickly you pick things up Suresh will slow or speed up the class. A note to all those who don't play string instruments: keeping your fingers on the strings for extended periods (over 5-10 minutes at a stretch) can be painful, so we suggest you take breaks as often as you need. Once the lesson is over and you think that the sitar was made for you to perfect :P then feel free to ask Suresh for advanced lessons.
For those who haven't played string instruments before, keeping the fingers on strings for long time will hurt.
The pick-up location address will be sent to your email immediately upon booking.
