More About This Experience

Fish like a true cambodian fisherman on the banks of both the Mekong and Tonle Sap River! Learn how to throw the nets for maximum area effect and catch river wonders like catfish and the giant freshwater Mekong prawn! Get on board a traditional Cham fisherman's boat from the fishing village you see right across from Phnom Penh's riverside and cruise down the rivers as you find a suitable fishing spot to throw the nets out! At the end of the course your host would prepare a nice dinner of your catch right on the boat itself! Don't worry if you don't catch anything, everyone will still get some fish for dinner! And If you take the last timing you may even get to see the epic sunset across Phnom Penh!

Amazing trip down the Mekong with a family of 3 who live, work and sleep on this boat. An eye opener for myself and my 2 son's of 7 and 9. We had a very interesting time learning how to use the nets and then the mum cooked the fish we caught and made a delicious meal. So relaxing and quite sailing down the Mekong.

A notre tour d’essayer.

We really enjoyed learning how to fish with this sweet family. It is hard work! Spending a few hours on the river was nice as was the freshly cooked fish dinner. The only comment for improvement is that the person who met us was not the host listed/who we were told would be meeting us, so there was a lot of confusion. He said he was just helping his friend out by hosting this and couldn't tell us the name of the company we booked through so we were a bit nervous initially. If Backstreet can better communicate these type of things that would be very helpful.

Really enjoyed this trip as it was good to see what life was like as a fisherman! My whole family and the fishing boat's family were all on the boat together. After demonstrations of how to cast the net, we kind of got the hang of it although it is harder than you think. Lots of smiles and thumbs up told us we were starting to improve. I don't think we would make very good fishermen as we only caught a few small fish which was a shame. Seeing them cook a pre caught fish on the boat reminded us of how tiny our catch was. Would happily do this again. The only problem was that the net they brought was too big and heavy for our kids to have a go even though we said we had kids coming. Also ensure that there is a cover/shade as our boat had no canopy and so 4 hours in the sun was hot work and rather dangerous for pale skin!

Great experience. We even took our 3 kids aged 6,7 and 8 and they had a fantastic time. Great meal at the end and a wonderful sunset ride on the way back.
