More About This Experience

Are you a maker? This journey is tailor-made for makers everywhere who love to use their hands and craft unique items for themselves and learn traditional ways of making things from the original makers! In this journey you will be able to learn 3 types of skills - Bamboo weaving, sewing with cement bags and flute-making. Bamboo Weaving Bamboo is the lifeblood of most communities in SouthEast Asia, its strong and sturdy characteristics coupled with its abundance and fast growth has seen it being turned into everything from furniture to houses, baskets to speakers. Learn the basic principles of how this deceivingly normal strips of bamboo can be weaved together in various techniques to exponentially increase its strength and become a much stronger object in its entirety. You can choose to make a tube for carrying paintings, a small basket or similar sized ornamental objects. Sewing with cement bags If you're reading this, you most likely have salivated over Freitag bags in museum shops, but put away by its over $500 price for a 'pre-loved' piece. Now you can make something similar, but with much more character to it! Besides, you can also customize your own pockets, zippers, design and create something wholly unique under the guidance of a stitching master and a leg powered sewing machine. It doesn't get much more hipster than that. Flute-making Create the perfect companion to the wanderer in you and make beautiful music wherever you go. And when people ask about the rustic look of your flute, stun them by saying you made it yourself from one single piece of bamboo.
