Bamboo is an important element of Lao culture and it's used in daily Lao life. From houses and kitchen utensils for instance house walls, roofs, basket, steaming baskets, containers, cup and decorative pieces, bamboo is an essential item and it's easy to make things from and are available almost everywhere in Laos.
Try crafting your own cup, straws or actually anything that you have seen at the night market instead of using any plastic straw for preventing the global warming. There's little our bamboo crafting master consider a challenge, simply make sure you have the space to bring it home!
The cup is especially interesting because it was used as a traditional mortar as well as the water container of the hill tribe's daily life for hundreds of years, and even today it continues to serve its purpose as a mortar and cup for drinking water.
In this experience you will be able to make a cup of your choosing as well as a straw, both of which you will be able to bring home :)
Note: Bring your own drinking water
