More About This Experience
A classic Hmong toy played for centuries in Hmong villages, it is still a favorite pastime for many Hmong children and even among the adult men. When there are festivals, the men traditionally gathers at the centre of the village and plays rounds after rounds of competitive top-throwing. A simple way of competing is just to see who's top is better made and thrown by seeing how long it spins. A more interesting way is for one person to throw his top inside a circle, and others try to hit it with theirs. Aiming and spinning the the top might seem easy but there's still a challenge to doing it right!
If you are interested in ethnic culture and playing such village games with the locals, this course is perfect for you as you'll be able to make your own wooden top, then face off with curious villagers who are more than delighted to play their favorite game with you!
