More About This Experience

Join in the eco-movement and help recycle these by-products of development by creating useful and fashionable bags from it! These are aplenty at the night markets all over Laos but here you can customize one for yourself, with all your little quirky touches, rather than a mass manufactured product everyone else has. These sewing skills would come in handy for anything you'd want to make in the future! Fully recycled from old cement bags, this is the Lao version of the hugely popular swiss brand Freitag. Similarly waterproof and nearly as hardy, you cant deny it has both hipster appeal and great functionality as well. Now customize one for yourself with local village seamstresses! Note: Customizations include extra pockets, size, simple patterns. Please check with our host if you have any other ideas, we'll be most happy to comply as much as possible! Note: Bring your own bottled water

Additional Information:

  • Pick up will be via a tuktuk
  • Journey time from Luang Prabang hotels is around 10-15mins
  • There might be other people on the same experience
  • Bring your own water

Good experience. Be prepared to be in someone’s (very basic for western standards) house, bring your own water and just know that all of this might be totally out of your comfort zone. As we don’t mind all of this, it was a very good experience for us. The facilitator was nice and everything went smoothly. We’re very happy with our bags!

It was great. But only one sewing machine, so when someone is sewing al the other just look at him.
