More About This Experience
Every wondered how people high up in the Himalayas get all the energy and stamina to go about their daily lives, particularly those involved with labour intensive work? Well, the answer lies in the diet. And from all the various foods, the humble Thenduk has to be a chief source of nutrition for many. Not only does it give stamina but it tastes absolutely delicious too!
Originally a Tibetan dish, Thenduk is a hand pulled noodle soup, but the Thenduk you'll find in Nepal is consumed mostly by the Sherpa and Tibetan communities. And while many that prepare this delicacy at home still prefer to prepare it the traditional way, there are many who've taken the various spices used in Nepali curries and given it their own twist. :) Once such an individual is our host Pasang. She make a Super Thenduk or what. The pictures in the gallery above illustrate the process but we have another Himalayan super food to go with this dish for you, Butter Tea. Yes, you read that right, Butter and Salted Tea. Might not sound appetising to Tea purists, but trust us, once you get a taste, there's no going back!
Note: Please indicate whether you want a non-vegetarian (buffalo or chicken) or vegetarian Thenduk when sending the booking request. Also let us know if you have any food allergies.
