Venezia Homestay and Garden is a modest guesthouse with strategic location and calm surroundings. Using a lot of wood and bamboo plus being surrounded by trees gives you the impression that it is hidden away, and yet it is walking distance to many eateries, shops, batik and antique galleries too. 

There are 6 rooms available which are equipped with air-conditioning, television, private bathroom with hot water  and a shared kitchen should you want to cook. On a budget? Don’t worry, there is the option to stay in dormitories too.

Woodstone Hostel

Wood Stone Hostel is an incredibly modern hostel in the heart of Yogyakarta with many different types of beds ranging from King to Queen to Singles in the mixed dormitories. All the rooms come with air conditioning, a wardrobe and Wi-Fi, several even have private bathrooms, depending on your preferences. 

As the name suggests, a vast majority of the interior is made from wood and stone, giving it a very sleek minimalistic look. Combined with its high standard of cleanliness, it is indeed very pleasing to the eyes. 

There is a beautiful garden and bar for you to unwind after a long day of adventure (after renting a vehicle from them) and very friendly staff happy to tell you all about the various types of available breakfast; English, American or Irish? This is definitely the place for you to enjoy your vacation if you want to check out a hostel different from the rest. 

Snooze Hostel

This eco-friendly hostel is like a hidden jungle in the middle of the city. The amount of vegetation you will find in SNOOZE Hostel would possibly rival some gardens! Using almost entirely bamboo and wooden furnishings, almost every nook and cranny of Snooze are filled with potted plants from the ground or hanging from above, which makes you feel at ease instantly upon entering it. 

There are 4 types of rooms available; mixed dorm, twin rooms, double private rooms and budget private rooms. Do note that not all rooms come with air conditioning and a window but have good circulation nonetheless as the hostel is proud to be environmentally conscious. 

SNOOZE has impeccably clean shared bathrooms and a kitchen so well equipped you could have a cook-off with fellow hostel mates. They offer various breakfast options, even vegan ones, and will help you organize a scooter or bicycle rental  for your travel needs upon request. 

OTU Hostel

Here is a hostel designed for travelers who want to have more fun on top of all the traveling; slide down the top bunk of your bed instead of climbing down for a change! Yes, it has a slide. It also has a lot of colourful murals to tickle your fancy. 

Each room has their own unique style and you can choose between dormitories with a shared bathroom or private or family rooms, that come with your own bathroom. Get this; they even have a Tall bedroom with mattress of 2.3m length and 1.3m wide  to accommodate travelers with individual needs, be it height or the liking to wiggle in their sleep. 

The hostel also has a large, tempting swimming pool and kitchen nearby to refuel after swimming way too many laps. Hang out in the lounge and exchange travel stories after renting a bicycle to explore the street art surrounding the streets of Yogyakarta. 

ViaVia Guesthouse

ViaVia Guesthouse, a branch of the tree that is ViaVia, is a fantastic place to stay if environmental sustainability is one of the goals you wish to adhere to while travelling. Reliant entirely on solar energy, this guesthouse is located right on Prawirotaman, walking distance to its mothership where you can eat delicious healthy local or western food, get some quality bread to take with you on the road, join a yoga or cooking class, or just meet other like minded travelers. 

It has 7 rooms all named after the islands of Indonesia; dormitories and private rooms with or without air conditioning and private bathrooms, so it has something in it for everybody and comes with breakfast (the menu changes every day!). Lounge by the serene swimming pool in the garden and marvel at the street art within the compound itself by local street artists, or just pick a book to read from the floating bookshelves. 

The staff ace at hospitality and will gladly assist you in arranging for motorbike or bicycle rental, laundry services and let you know if there are any cool events happening nearby or in the restaurant, say for instance, the Friday Night Jazz or all-you-can-eat-barbeque (for meat eaters and vegetarians alike).
